Fall fashion this season is all about “wearable trends and interesting textures” according to Nikki Kemper, of ELLIE Boutique, “bell sleeves are a nice departure from last season’s cold shoulder.” While we loved the off the shoulder and cold shoulder trends it’s time for something new and we are looking forward to the fresh take on bell sleeves. Other things Nikki’s excited for are, “Two toned diamond lace from Trina Turk, marbled prints from Michael Stars, a whole new collection of bright colored paisley and prints from everyone’s favorite shirts by Cino.”

Fall is the perfect season to venture into vintage. This season Carroll Laurence, Co-Owner and Co-Founder of Social Stylate, says she’s excited for “Vintage inspired everything. I love mixing old with new… vintage shopping is one of my favorite pastimes.” We found these two links, Vintage Shopping and An Insiders Guide to Shopping Vintage in NYC, for lists of vintage shops in New York City.

Another thing we’re excited for is new color trends. Lauren Golt, Co-Owner and Co-Founder of Social Stylate, says, “I always love the colors of fall fashion and this year we can expect to see a few surprises, like Grenadine and Butterum.” Grenadine and other power reds dominated New York Fashion Week and will make a great addition to our closets. The colors like Butterum, Navy Peony, and Neutral Gray are perfect for staple pieces while Ballet Slipper, Marina, and Golden Lime provide pops of color. Lauren’s goal for the fall “is to wear less black and venture out of my fashion comfort zone.” And that’s a goal for everyone, especially with such great colors available.

Meanwhile for makeup, expect something more dramatic. Lizzie Johnson, Co-Owner of Houppette said, “It seems like designers are pushing the envelope again with innovative design, metallic touches, more texture, and bold color. I’m excited to see color cosmetics following suit with bold liners and lip colors, and a fearless fashion-forward attitude from our favorite brands.” Summer makeup tends to be minimal, with “Makeup-less makeup” as everyone’s go to. So this fall we are excited to break out our bold liners and lips.
