Summer Workout

Summer is officially here! Since bikini season can be rather revealing, we were happy to find Lauren Conrad’s “Get Fit Summer Bootcamp“. It is really hard to stay motivated when the weather is hot and humid. Thankfully, this step by step guide provides workout ideas, a sensible diet plan, and motivating tips to help keep you on track!

It’s always easier to stick to a healthy lifestyle change if you can get your friends and family to join in with you! Call your girlfriends and take a spin class together or grab your sweetie and go for a hike. Chances are, enlisting the company of others will make your workouts more consistent and enjoyable!

Committing to a few, simple goals can make a world of difference: drink more water, eat three pieces of fruit a day, do 50 squats while you are watching your favorite show…every little bit counts!

What is your summer fitness plan?

Winter Workout

Winter Workout

Winter temperatures may tempt you to snuggle under a blanket on the couch instead of working out…BUT, the Social Stylate girls have some ideas to keep you moving!

We are big fans of POPSUGAR fitness. This is our go-to site for in home ideas (especially simple weight lifting routines) when treacherous conditions make getting to the gym impossible.

If the sun is out and the roads are clear, going for a run can be refreshing. The key is proper outerwear! Some of our favorites are available at Lululemon, Fabletics and GAPBody. Make sure to cover exposed skin and add a layer of Chapstick to protect your lips.

If being outdoors is not your cup of tea, taking a class at the gym is always a great alternative. Not only does it help to cure cabin fever, it is an opportunity to catch up with friends. Taking Spin or a super popular Barre class is a great cross training option for those stuck in a rut.

Fitness Fun

running

I am a novice when it comes to running…perhaps because I have a love/hate relationship with it! I want to be really fast, go long distances and achieve that mysterious and illustrious “runners high”.  As of now, I sweat like a farm animal and rejoice heartily at my self-designated 3.5 mile finish line. I appreciate this post from SparkPeople on 9 effective cross-training routines that will help improve my endurance and desire to run!
