Our Favorite Podcasts

favorite podcasts

As a great alternative to music, we love to listen to Podcasts in the car or while we’re puttering around the house. It all started with Serial, a series that investigated a real case from several years ago. We were hooked, so we started listening to other shows to see what other greatness was out there. Below includes what we found and listen to now on a regular basis:

1. Call Your Girlfriend: Hosted by female comedians, Gina DelvacAnn Friedman and Aminatou Sow, this podcast covers all things relevant in pop culture news. It’s what you and your best friends talk about and some could say it’s the podcast version of Kathie Lee & Hoda from the Today show.

2. Download This Show: For the techies our there, here is a weekly show that dives into the latest on social media, hacktivism, and all things electronics that make life easier.

3. The Bugle: If you’re a John Oliver fan then you’ll love this topical podcast he co-hosts with the British comedian, Andy Zaltzman. The two discuss major news stories in a satirical way much like “Last Week Tonight” and “The Daily Show”.

4. Freakonomics Radio: If you’re a curious person then you’ll enjoy Freakonomics Rado as they dive into “the hidden side of everything”. Much like the book, you learn important things relative to your daily life.

5. This American Life: A podcast that has been around forever about lives of everyday people. Some of the stories are trued and some are made up. The topics are all over the place but there’s a theme to each episode. A little fun fact; six or so stories from this show have been turned into movies!
