“A bit of femininity, funk, flair and fun. Lilly Bunn’s redesign of this lovely New York City apartment has rejuvenated it from its past. With spots of color among the white walls and sensual curves and lines that brings out nothing but the best details. Each element and pattern, if you can’t tell already, is oh so carefully picked and placed. If you’re looking for some proper inspiration for a bachelorette pad, don’t look any further. Combining all of every girl’s favorite elements of leopard print, floral touches, and exotic hues, you could do no wrong. So, when can I move in?”

Hi Social Stylate followers, fans and clients, it’s Nina from The HSS Feed and I’m so thankful to the lovely ladies at Social Stylate for having me guest post on the blog today.

As much as I enjoy getting dressed up for a happy hour or night out with the girls, I’ll never turn down a night in with friends, movies, wine and laughs. With a 13 month old, we stay home and plan home-based events with friends a lot more than we used to, but that doesn’t mean it can’t be just as well-planned, fun and stylish as a night out. So, let’s talk Girls Night In (GNI).

WEAR IT

Girls Night In is all about comfort and style. I’d leave the heels in the closet and go with some denim shorts, a lightweight sweater and bright flats. Another great option is some patterned pants and a comfy tee. I keep my jewelry simple and always have a wrap or scarf (like this one) nearby.

WATCH IT

Admittedly, I need a real occasion to watch movies and having people over is the perfect reason for me to check out a new movie (otherwise, I’ll easily get distracted by random household chores, blogging, working or something else and I’ll never finish a whole movie). Here are a couple of my favorites and “want to see” films:

  1. Friends With Kids – It’s so cute and oddly accurate at times. I also hear “So this is 40” is hilarious.
  2. How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days – I never get tired of it.
  3. Lincoln – I’m dying to see this one. It is obviously a little more serious, but if your group of friends is the type that is interested in history and a little drama, it might be a good way to go.

SERVE IT

When I have people over, I take it as an opportunity to try out some new recipes. I’ve found myself pinning a lot of party snacks and sips lately and there are a few at the top of my list for my next GNI.

Little macaron favors like these would also be nice. Everyone likes to go home with a little sweet.

What are your essentials for a girls night in?

Thanks again to Social Stylate for having me!
