With fall officially here, there’s a morning chill in the air that has us welcoming trendy booties, hot coffee and of course, sweater weather. We’re also looking forward cozying up with new books and here’s what we can’t wait to read:
Why Not Me? by Mindy Kaling
It’s safe to say that we pretty much love everything Mindy Kaling writes, stars in, creates and produces. Her new book continues her journey of adult-hood offering insightful life lessons and hilarious excerpts.
The Girl in the Spider’s Web by David Lagercrantz
In continuing Stieg Larsson’s Millennium Series, author David Lagercrantz brings you back into the girl with the dragon tattoo’s world of hacking and rebellion. We were captivated by the original triller trilogy and can’t wait to see what’s in store.
After Alice by Gregory Maguire
You may recognize the name Gregory Macguire because he brought us Wicked, the life and times of the wicked witch of the west. In After Alice, he retrofits the classic fairy tale of Alice in Wonderland and offers a dazzling story of what happens next.
It’s safe to say that reading a captivating book (guilty pleasures included) by the pool or beach is pure bliss. And although it’s not technically summer yet, we’re already making our list for what to read when the time comes. From mysteries to an historic literary event, these are the books we can’t wait to dive into:
My Paris Dream | The Luckiest Girl In The World | How to Fly A Horse | The Rocks | A Little Life | The Time In Between | Always Pack A Party Dress | Go Set The Watchman
Last week, I got the amazing opportunity to meet author, Kelly Corrigan! That picture captures me (on the right) totally geeking out over the fact that I got to shake her hand! Kelly’s book, “The Middle Place,” made it to The New York Times Best Sellers List and was described as “Funny and irresistibly exuberant.” by O Magazine (as in Oprah). Impressive, huh? Her latest, “Glitter & Glue,” is a laugh-out-loud and poignant tale of Kelly’s quest to “Become Interesting” after college. The true life details of her relationship with her parents (more specifically her mother) are so relate-able that you will find yourself shaking your head as you read. I cracked up. I cried. I could NOT put this book down.
If you are looking for a good book to take on vacation, grab this one…you will be thinking about it long after you turn the last page!
Have you read anything extraordinary lately?
We, girls of Social Stylate, have SUMMER on the brain! Carroll suggested this amazing book of summertime photos including the (stunning) work of Carlos Alejandro! Lauren kicked back and watched 2 movies this weekend that she LOVED: The Way, Way Back and Enough Said. Sydney is armed and ready for outside plans with this all natural bug repellent. And, I am determined to learn how to do THIS to my hair!
