For many, setting a fitness goal is the extra bit of motivation necessary to make working out a daily habit. If you have always wanted to try running, we found an incredibly easy, step-by-step format by Olympic athlete (and running coach) Jeff Galloway to get you up and ready for a 5K in only one month! The key is his Run Walk Run method designed to ease the beginner into a safe, conditioning program. Galloway includes rest days and strength training exercises to ensure a comprehensive approach. Now that you are a lean, mean, running machine, you need to put your new skills to the test. Why not find a race that can make a difference? There are hundreds to choose from, but we happen to have a special affinity for the Mental Health Association’s Annual E-Racing the Blues run. Show your support for the thousands of Delaware residents who are struggling with depression and anxiety by participating in this important event. The race takes place on Sunday, October 25th at 8:30am at the Riverfront Wilmington and includes a 5K run, a 10K run, a 5K competitive walk and a 5K recreational walk. Please consider participating and/or donating. Your financial contribution helps fund MHA’s suicide prevention training, education and advocacy throughout the state, as well as, provide support groups for those with depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, and those who have lost a loved one to suicide.
